The Pakistan Minerals Development Corporation (PMDC), a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Energy, is currently recruiting for the position of Chief Geologist. This is a critical role within the organization, responsible for overseeing geological exploration, resource evaluation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Job Description:
The Chief Geologist will be tasked with:
- Supervising and coordinating geological exploration activities: Leading teams to identify and evaluate potential mineral deposits.
- Managing resource estimation: Assessing the size, grade, and economic viability of mineral deposits.
- Ensuring data integrity: Overseeing the collection, storage, and analysis of geological data for informed decision-making.
- Conducting geotechnical studies: Evaluating the stability and integrity of mine structures.
- Developing exploration strategies: Contributing to the development of exploration targets based on geological interpretations and regional knowledge.
- Participating in due diligence: Assessing potential acquisitions, joint ventures, or investment opportunities.
- Preparing technical reports: Creating detailed reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Mentoring and training: Providing guidance and support to junior geologists and technical staff.
- Ensuring compliance: Adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and environmental standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s Degree: A Master’s degree in Geology or a related field from a Higher Education Commission recognized university is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in relevant fields is essential.
- Track Record: A proven track record of driving and leading mineral exploration functions in the mining industry is highly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience in mineral exploration and evaluation using the latest techniques and software.
